Discover the history of Munich through its glorious dead on this guided small-group tour of the Alter Sudfriedhof (Old South Cemetery). Dating back to 1563, the Alter Sudfriedhof is the final resting place of some of the city's most prominent historical figures. As you take in its serene ambience, you'll unearth stories of the lives (and deaths) of the people who helped to shape modern-day Munich, as well as tales of the macabre including: the Plague, torture and execution, political revolts, WWII, tragic accidents, and more. Yes, we even have a few ghost stories to share along the way as well. After your visit to the land of the dead, celebrate life and live deliciously with a stroll through the trendy Glockenbachviertel neighbourhood. Pass by lively cafes and boutiques before visiting the city's best chocolate shop where you will indulge is a hot drinking chocolate of the gods. This tour begins and ends at Munich's 14th century gate, Sendlinger Tor.

We meet in front of St. Stephan's church close to the cemetery gates. Your guide will be holding a small BlackBook Tours sign. Please arrive 10 minutes early.

In this area you will also visit subtle reminders of fallen icons and victims of the Nazi regime.
