Experience the craftsmanship of traditional Japanese umbrellas and samurai swords in Gifu, including a stay at Nagaragawa Onsen and a visit to a cormorant fishing museum. Ukai Cormorant fishing, a traditional fishing method using cormorants, is unique to certain regions in Japan and might not be widely recognized internationally.
The Tourism Information Center is located inside a large hallway with shops, which connects the two main exits of the station. Your guide will be waiting for you with your name board.
Craftsmen will guide you through the workshops of Gifu's traditional handicrafts, wagasa (Japanese umbrella) and Gifu lanterns.
You can try your hand at making a miniature Japanese umbrella.
Oda Nobunaga, a place of entertainment, will explain about the Nagara River cormorant fishing, which has a 1,300-year tradition, while interacting with an active cormorant master.
