Today you travel across the vast Haouz plains and up into the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. After a lunch stop, continue toward the legendary Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO listed fortified village known for its dramatic architecture and its appearance in films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Continue south to Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of North Africa, home to film sets for productions such as James Bond, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. 4Merzouga
Begin your journey toward the Sahara Desert through palm groves, rose fields, and dramatic landscapes. Optionally stop to visit Kasbah Amherdhil in Skoura before reaching the spectacular Todra Gorge, known as Morocco’s “Grand Canyon,” with limestone cliffs rising over 300 meters. Continue to Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara dunes. Depending on the season, relax or swim before your camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch a stunning desert sunset. Spend the night in a remote Berber desert camp with traditional food and music.

5Fez
Rise early for a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga for breakfast. Today’s drive to Fes is long but filled with beautiful scenery: cedar forests inhabited by Barbary macaques, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the alpine-style town of Ifrane, often compared to a Swiss resort. You’ll also spot nomadic Berber families as they move across the landscapes with their portable tents. Arrive in Fes by early evening.
