Travel south through Kakadu National Park to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). You’ll need comfortable shoes to walk about 1 km along the (mostly) dry river through a paperbark forest to the gorge and waterhole. The water is super deep but refreshing. Chill out in the clear water, while taking in the surrounding pandanis and rustic cliff walls that have remained unchanged for thousands of years. It’s a special place!
Stop for lunch with a view! Next we head down another 4WD track to (Moline Rockhole). This is a special permit area at a smaller but equally impressive waterhole.
We’ve earned another refreshing break this afternoon, so if time permits, we visit Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole). This is a special permit area at a smaller but equally impressive waterhole.
This evening, we enjoy the sunset views over the Katherine River, before settling in at our camp.
