    Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids

    Archaeologists have discovered the Step Pyramid of Djoser, also known as the Pyramid of Djoser or the Pyramid of Djeser and Zoser, in the Saqqara necropolis of Egypt, to the northwest of the Memphis ruins. This 6-story, 4-sided building is Egypt's oldest massive stone construction. [4] It was constructed for Pharaoh Djoser of the Third Dynasty in the 27th century BC. The pyramid is at the center of a massive courtyard filled with ceremonial buildings and elaborate adornment. Imhotep, the chief priest of the deity Ra and chancellor to the pharaoh, designed it.

    Tune in, learn, and investigate the Dahshur Pyramids. The Red Pyramid, Egypt's first real Pyramid, and the Pyramid of Cheops are all located at Dahshur. Two of the Pyramids of Dahshur were commissioned by King Sneferu, the first ruler of the Fourth Dynasty and the father of King Khufu. The southern one is commonly referred to as the Bent Pyramid. Located nearby, in 1947, was a smaller pyramid with a height of around 101 meters. The Red Pyramid, the second biggest pyramid in Egypt, is widely regarded as the first truly perfect pyramid ever built. The Red Pyramid is 105 meters tall, took about 11 years to construct, and has 125 steps leading up to its entrance.
