You will be collected from your hotel in a private vehicle for an extensive exploration of the Kathmandu Valley. Key destinations on this itinerary include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu Stupa, Bodhnath Stupa, and the Pashupati Hindu Temple, all of which are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Kathmandu Durbar Square features a wealth of historical and spiritual landmarks alongside ancient architectural marvels. You will also have the opportunity to visit Kumari Ghar, the residence of Nepal's living Goddess, and explore Kumari Chowk, which includes the courtyard of Kumari Ghar.
Next, your journey will take you to Pashupatinath Temple, originally constructed in the 5th century and later renovated by the Malla kings. Pashupatinath is notable for housing over 500 temples within its grounds. Additionally, you will visit the stupas of Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. Boudhanath is recognized as one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal, featuring a prominent dome-shaped structure adorned with fluttering prayer flags. The prayer wheels that line the stupa are particularly popular among visitors.
An additional significant location is Swayambhunath, often known as the Monkey Temple, which is home to a large population of monkeys. To reach the central stupa, one must ascend 365 steps, during which you will encounter various small shrines. Swayambhunath is embellished with numerous prayer wheels, and the Buddha statue located here is the largest in all of Nepal.
Today, you will visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Patan Durbar Square, which served as the royal palace for the Malla kings. This site features three unique courtyards: Sundari Chowk, Mul Chowk, and Keshav Narayan Chowk. Among the notable structures in Patan Durbar Square is the Krishna Mandir, renowned for its Shikhara architectural style. Following your time in Patan, you will proceed to the Dakshinkali Temple, a significant site in Hindu mythology where animal sacrifices, primarily of goats and chickens, are conducted. Your journey will then take you to Chobar, an ancient village located at the periphery of the Kathmandu Valley, known for its numerous caves and the scenic Bagmati Valley.
Finally, you will head to Nagarkot, famous for its breathtaking morning vistas, where you will spend the night.
Situated at an elevation of 2,100 meters, Nagarkot is renowned for its panoramic views just outside of Kathmandu. On this day, it is advisable to rise early to witness the majestic peaks of Nepal, including Everest (8,848m), Dorje Lhakpa (6,966m), Langtang (7,234m), Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Gauri Shankar (7,134m), and Rolwaling (7,181m).
After savoring the breathtaking morning vistas, you will make your way back to Kathmandu, with a stop to visit Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple, one of the oldest in Nepal, is adorned with intricate carvings and elaborate decorations.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is home to several significant historical temples, courtyards, and intricately carved gates. This square serves as a focal point for religious and cultural activities, showcasing the exquisite Newari architecture and artistry. Ultimately, you will return to Kathmandu, marking the conclusion of your tour.
