Discover Sterkfontein Caves in the Cradle of Humankind which was declared A WORLD HERITAGE SITE by UNESCO in 1999, because of its exceptional contribution to our understanding of Humankind History, and development over more than 3 million years.
The Ape-man skull discovered by Robert Broom in 1947 is one of the fossils on display.
The skull was later named Mrs Ples.
It rocketed Sterkfontein Caves into World prominence.The skull is estimated to be more than 2.3 million years old.
Professor Ron Clarke discovered the little foot; an almost complete hominid skeleton aged about 3.5 million years old.
Homo sapiens, the species to which we all belong, evolved at the Cradle of Humankind..

We combine Sterkfontein caves tour with Maropeng Visitor Centre tour.
Maropeng is the World Class Visitor Centre situated about 11 kilometers from Sterkfontein Caves.
It has a Bigger Exhibition housed in the unique Tumulus building structured to symbolise the caves where fossils were discovered.

    Sterkfontein Cave

    A guided tour of the Caves which descend 60 meters below the ground will leave you with memorable and informative experience. You also go on a journey of the types of tools/equipments humans have been using from olden days. You learn about fossils on display including the famous fossils:Mrs Ples and Little foot. About 1000 hominid fossils have been discovered at Sterkfontein Caves. We give you an opportunity to discover one of the richest and most productive Polaeo-anthrological sites in the world; the birth place of Humanity, ancestors lived here million years ago. Homo sapiens, the species to which we all belong, evolved at the Cradle of Humankind. Allocated time include travelling time.

    Maropeng Visitor Centre

    Explore the unique Tumulus building exhibition, structured to represent the Caves, where fossils of Proto humans and stone tools they used were discovered. You are taken through the interactive exhibitions and ride the boat illustrating the evolution in the Cradle of humankind. View the authentic fossils and stone tools dating back, one million years ago,up and close, for evidence that the Cradle of Humankind, world heritage site is truly where the modern man race comes from.
