Your gorilla trekking adventure begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. An early morning departure (usually around 4:00 – 4:30 AM) ensures you reach Kinigi Headquarters in time for the mandatory pre-trek briefing at 7:00 AM. Upon arrival at Kinigi (Volcanoes National Park HQ), you’ll receive a detailed briefing about the trekking experience, safety protocols, and gorilla families before heading into the jungle with expert rangers.

Rwanda offers one of the world’s most extraordinary experiences—gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park! Nestled in the Virunga Mountains, this adventure takes you deep into the heart of the jungle to meet the rare and endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Your Trekking Adventure Your journey begins early in the morning at Kinigi Park Headquarters, where you'll receive a briefing from park rangers. Groups of up to eight visitors are assigned to a specific gorilla family, and the trek can last between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you’ll have one magical hour to observe their social interactions, watch playful juveniles, and witness the dominance of the silverback. Be sure to bring your camera (without flash) to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments!
