You’ve been enjoying the best of the Kenya coast, now experience the best of Kenya’s wild parks! Hop into our 4 x 4 safari Jeeps for a fun drive to the great plains of Tsavo East National Park where you’ll find Africa’s largest game. Then we’ll journey to sister park, Tsavo West National Park with its rolling hills, green springs and famous lions.
You’ll go from powdery beaches to elephant, giraffe and buffalo in just one morning – only in East Africa. Natural World Kenya Safaris will be your guide on this 3-day adventure to Kenya’s largest park, Tsavo East, where majestic herds of elephants roll in the red-dust plains and legendary lions prowl near busy watering holes.
You’ll be tracking leopard, lion, buffalo and more, over the scenic hills at Tsavo West. A stop at the crystal waters of Mzima Springs will bring you up close on a walking safari to hippos, crocodile, fish, birds and more wildlife gathering here.
We’ll be up early for the drive along the “explorers’ route”, the Malindi – Sala Gate Road. Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner. In just a few hours we’ll be at the southern gate of Tsavo East and after a quick stop for refreshments… it’s time to start tracking the game in this historic park. We’ll head out on the rugged plains in our 4 x 4, scouting Tsavo’s vast expanse for lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and dozens more species under the park’s big horizons. Soon it’s time for lunch and some relaxation. We’ve probably already had some sightings, but we’ll head out into the cooling afternoon for another game drive and see which animals we can add to our list. Get ready to view one of the park’s blazing sunsets over the savannah. You’re a world away from the beach. We’ll spend our first safari night at the lodge or tented camp of your choice. What to see at Tsavo East National park
We’ll be up with the animals, who are also venturing onto the plains to see what the day will bring. Enjoy the breaking light over the park’s vast expanse as we explore and track the big game. We’ll briefly retreat to our accommodation for a well-earned safari breakfast. Then, we’ll head out again to enjoy a relaxed game drive, perhaps visiting the park’s known watering holes, where wildlife gathers to sustain itself from the otherwise thirsty park. We’ve already seen a lot of the park but now it’s time to visit the neighboring reserve of Tsavo West, just a short hour drive away. The green hills and landscape at Tsavo West will greet you as we enter the park. The look here is of more foliage and features to the land. Look for oases, baobab trees and great volcanic lava beds. All the “Big Five” are here and we’ll be tracking for them over the next 2 days.
We’ll take our cue from the wildlife and venture out on a pre-breakfast game drive, looking for the early morning hunters and grazers. Traveling over the dewy wet grass, with the emerging golden light upon us is one of the great treasures of the safari experience. We’ll take our breakfast and once more hop into our 4 x 4 traveling through the park and over to Mzima Springs, a beautiful oasis fed by millions of gallons of crystal waters. We can take a guided walking safari by the shores and see hippos, crocodiles, fish and even migratory birds. There’s even an underwater hippo viewing chamber here to watch the underwater ballet of these enormous creatures. But soon it’s time to return to the coast. We’ll settle into our Jeep for the ride back to the coast on the Mariakani-Malindi road.
