If you dream of experiencing the magic of Guatemala’s volcanoes without an intense hike, this shared 4x4 Acatenango adventure is the perfect choice. Travel high up the volcano in a comfortable 4WD vehicle and enjoy a scenic walk of about 1.5 hours to reach spectacular viewpoints near the summit. Along the way, take in breathtaking landscapes, crisp mountain air, and unforgettable views of the surrounding volcanoes. Depending on the schedule, you may witness a stunning sunset painting the sky or a magical sunrise above the clouds. We will start this tour by picking you up at the lobby of your hotel or accommodation in Antigua Guatemala. The time to get to the base of Acatenango Volcano from Antigua is around 1 hour.

2Acatenango
The 4WD vehicle will take us up to 80% of the road, and the rest of the way we will go on foot. The car ride will take us around 60-90 minutes, and we will appreciate different landscapes along the way. This is a shared tour to see the sunrise or the sunset. Then, we will begin our hike to the summit once we arrive at the vehicle drop-off point. This is the last part of the volcano, the tip. This hike requires good physical condition, both muscular and endurance, as the path is quite steep and sandy. It will take us one and a half to two hours to walk to the top, but the scenery will make it all worth it.

3Acatenango
When we reach the volcano's summit, you will have free time to take pictures, enjoy, and appreciate the breathtaking views. After this time, we will start our walk to the base camp. Once we are there, you will have time to continue enjoying the fantastic view of Volcán de Fuego and the range of neighboring volcanoes. Also, you will have a camping-style meal. Finally, we'll start our 40-minute walk to return to the 4WD vehicle, which will take us back to Antigua Guatemala.

The 4WD will take us to the base of the volcano and then take you to your hotel in Antigua Guatemala for rest.
