Tikal is an ancient Mayan city. Now is a national park declared Natural and Cultural Humanity Heritage by UNESCO in 1979. Is located in Petén department to the north of Guatemala and is the biggest prehispanic settlement in the country. The population could have reached the extraordinary amount of 100,000 people during its greatest time. This charming place with its many temples, pyramids, ball-courts, and palaces helps us to understand how this city could have been in the old days. Picture in your mind how that imponent civilization raised from the grounds until becoming one of the most important cultures in the world. Spanish explorers found it completely abandoned.
