Casa Santo Domingo is a fascinating blend of history, culture, and luxury, set within the ruins of what was once Antigua Guatemala’s largest monastery. Founded in 1538 by the Dominicans, the original monastery was a magnificent structure with two towers, ten bells, and a wealth of treasures. Partially destroyed in the 1773 Santa Marta earthquake, its remaining baroque architecture, brick archways, and corridors tell the story of its grand past. Today, the site houses a five-star hotel known for its respect for history, with beautifully restored convent spaces, manicured gardens, and multiple museums displaying preserved statues, crypts, and artistic masterpieces. A visit here offers a unique glimpse into Antigua’s colonial heritage and architectural splendor. Entrance to the museums not included***
