Put your motorcycle license to good use and sightsee Kathmandu in style!
We are the first gully on the right if coming from Hattisar/Krishna Pauroti Chowk. Or the last gully on the left if coming from Pashupati/The Airport on Pashupatinath Road. Once in the gully you will find us by looking for the green gates and the tall red brick house.
We will first ride to Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa outside of Tibet. We will find some parking and park the bikes nearby. There is a small entrance fee around 300nrs, once we have paid and got the tickets you can go inside and either freely walk around the Stupa yourself or stay with the group and listen to some stories from your guide. We will stay here for about half and hour and soak up the peaceful atmosphere before continuing our ride eastwards to Sankhu.
We ride past rice paddies to reach the ancient Newari town of Sankhu.
We continue our ride from Sankhu to Jarsing Pauwa, we can stop for tea in either place and appreciate our surroundings. Jarsing Pauwa has some scenic views of the valley and the Himalayas.
Once we reach Nagarkot we will stop here for lunch. You can spend some time gazing at the valley on one side of the hill and the range of Himalayas in the distance on the other side. Nagarkot is very famous for it's views, from here if you are lucky you can spot Mt. Everest, although it appears only as tiny white peak on the horizon.
Looping back towards Kathmandu we head to Changu Narayan. Temple. This Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu is home to the oldest stone inscription in Nepal, dating back to 464 AD. It is located still quite high above Kathmandu where the air is nice and clean.
We ride back into the valley basin and take the inner roads to the old Kingdom of Bhaktapur. Famous for it's beautiful architecture, temples and well kept traditional Nepali houses and their hand carved wooden windows and doors.
We ride slowly through the ancient quarter of Thimi, much likened to Bhaktapur for it's great traditional architecture.
We finish our Temple Run by riding to Pashupatinath Temple. There is an admission fee to the temple of 1000nrs. Here you will walk part of the grounds of the largest Hindu Temple complex in asia. Famous for the temple and the ghats which sit beside the Bagmati River.
