The Serengeti. Ngorongoro Crater. Oldupai Gorge. The names are exotic, the locations even more so. This Tanzania Safari will bring you into the heart of the country – to immense savannahs heaving with wildebeests and big cats, and an ancient crater filled with Zebras, gazelles, cheetahs, and flamingoes.
We’ll touch the origins of mankind at Oldupai Gorge, a millions-year-old record of humankind’s earliest inhabitants. And then, when you’ve explored the best of Tanzania from the ground, our safari will take you to the air with a flight over these same magnificent landscapes and a return to Arusha.
We will pick you up at the airport, your hotel or residence in our comfortable and private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Your private Driver/Guide is English speaking – or another language if requested.
7:30 – Get ready to board your private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver/guide will swing by your hotel, residence, or another place of your choosing to get your safari started. Heading through Maasai country, keep an eye out for these indigenous people, tending to their cattle as we head for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Standing on the crater rim at Ngorongoro, you know you’re entering another world – one that has kept itself apart from the rest of the planet for thousands of years. Descending into this blue/green ecosystem, we’ll enter a rare space born of an amazing density and variety of wildlife. Lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, rhino, zebra, and more have made this extinct volcano their home for eons. After a very full day here, we’ll ascend back to the top where a special treat awaits… a spectacular sunset at the crater’s rim.
We’re headed to Tanzania’s oldest and largest reserve, the Serengeti. But along our route, we’ll stop at a very special place – the Oldupai Gorge. Immense troves of fossilized remnants from ancient man have been discovered here, including vast numbers of tools. These have provided an invaluable record of human development. It’s an eye-opening experience. But the great Serengeti is next – it’s a great treeless plain, extending to the horizon, filled with wildebeest, gazelle, zebra, impalas, and exciting populations of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. We’ll begin our game drives over the vast spaces here looking for wildlife, like the over 50,000 buffalo filling these wide-open grasslands.
