The Kanpur Memorial Church, known as the All Souls' Church which belongs to the Church of North India, a united Protestant denomination. It was built in 1875 in honour of British valour during the Siege of Cawnpore in 1857. This Church is positioned in Wheelers Entrenchment -which was a hastily fortified, makeshift compound where roughly 900 British soldiers and civilians, including women and children, took refuge during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Surrounded by Nana Sahib's forces, the garrison suffered a three-week siege (June 1857) under intense heat, disease, and bombardment before surrendering.
