Chengde, previously known as Jehol or Rehe, is a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, situated 180 km northeast of Beijing. It is best known as the site of the Mountain Resort, a vast royal garden and palace formerly used by the Qing emperors as summer residence since the weather temperature is cool during the summer there (average 24.5°C /76.1°F in July, and the annual mean is 9.11°C/48.4°F). This tour takes you to visit the UNESCO sites, the imperial garden and Tibatan temples. You will pickup in your city center hotel lobby
Your driver will pick you up in your place around 7:30am, and then take you to famous ChengDe Mountain Resort (3 hours driving time) On the way, you can take a nap in air conditioning comfortable car, or enjoy the scenery along the way.
After arriving Chengde Mountain Resort (around 10:30am), you can visit the emperor's garden first (2.5 hours). It's the emperor's Summer Palace of the Qing Dynasty. It's the largest imperial garden in China (double size of Beijing’s Summer Palace), construction spanned nearly ninety years (beginning under Emperor Kangxi in 1703 and lasting through the greater part of Emperor Qianlong’s reign). The Imperial Summer Villa often used as a de facto second capital as Kangxi set a precedent followed by a succession of other Qing emperors. In 1994, the Imperial Summer Villa became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After you later lunch, you will visit one of the outer eight temples Puning Temple. You will learned the histories and stories behind. At end, transferred to your Chengde hotel. (accommodation cost by yourself).
After your breakfast and check out from the hotel, your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby. Today, you will visit the largest temple in the outer eight temples, the little Potala Palace. It was built for Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama during their visit for Tibet. That is why the temple was built on the model of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. You will have couple of hours to visit this temple.
If the time available, you could visit another one of the outer eight temples, Anyuan Temple.
After the tour, you will drive back to Beijing for another 3 hours.
