Walk around Bebelplatz which is considered to be one of the historically most important places in the city.On May 10, 1933, the action of burning books took place in the square, which began two months after Adolf Hitler came to power. More than 20,000 books considered by the authorities to be "non-German" were burned then. This event is commemorated by the Empty Library memorial.
