The National Archaeological Museum of Naples offers one of the richest and most complete Archaeological Collections in Italy and Europe. The Vesuvian Collections and the Farnese Collection are not to be missed. The first houses a rich collection of unique finds of various types (from mosaics to frescoes, sculptures, objects of daily life), found in the excavations of the cities buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.C. , namely Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae. The Farnese collection is the most important of the Italian Renaissance collections of antiquities, inherited in the 18th century by the Bourbon family of Naples and unique for its sculptures such as: the famous "Farnese Bull" or the "Farnese Hercules". Not to be missed is the "Tazza Farnese", the largest engraved gem from antiquity.
