Mt. Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s oldest parks, offers short walks, including the famous Russell Falls and Tall Trees track, just a 1.5-hour drive from Hobart. Our adventure starts with the Three Falls Circuit and Tall Trees Walk, a 6 km loop showcasing Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and the Tall Trees Track. Choose to explore one or two waterfalls based on your adventure level. We’ll first visit Russell Falls, known for its stunning three-tiered drop. The easy walk winds through mixed and temperate rainforest, perfect for soaking in the breathtaking views. Next, we’ll ascend to Horseshoe Falls, often regarded as even more impressive. Continuing along the Three Falls Circuit, we’ll enter the Tall Trees Track, where towering Swamp Gums—at around 80 meters—rise above us. We’ll wrap up with a lunch break in one of the park’s beautiful picnic spots.
We will explore Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, a cherished haven for rescued wildlife. Here, you’ll encounter the famous Tasmanian Devils, along with wombats and echidnas, all in a beautiful, natural setting. Wallabies roam freely throughout the park, and many of our local favorites await discovery. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and appreciate these incredible animals up close.
