50 minutes to 1 hour (approximately)
Offered in: English

It’s a truly private tour—just you and your guide—so the pace, depth, and focus are tailored to your interests. Your local expert turns the museum into a clear, chronological story, linking the Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint-Rémy, and Auvers so the art and the life make sense together.
You don’t just “see Sunflowers” and the famous self-portraits—you understand how color, brushwork, and Vincent’s relationships shaped them. You’ll also explore sketches, letters, and lesser-known gems that most visitors pass by, with simple explanations that make technique and art history easy to grasp.
The route is thoughtfully planned to cover the museum’s essential highlights efficiently, with time for questions and quiet moments in front of key works. If a masterpiece is on loan or a gallery is busy, your guide adapts on the spot so you still get a complete, satisfying narrative. You finish confident that you’ve seen the best of the collection—and that you understand why these works matter.

    Van Gogh Museum

You begin at the Van Gogh Museum entrance and atrium for a short orientation, then continue into the Early Dutch Period galleries to view formative works including The Potato Eaters. You proceed to the Paris period galleries, where you see color experiments influenced by Impressionism and Pointillism and hear about contacts with Bernard, Signac, Seurat, and Toulouse-Lautrec. Next, you explore the Arles rooms - the Studio of the South, and view highlights such as "Sunflowers” and "Bedroom in Arles” while learning how light, color, and subject choice evolved. When available, you also visit the self-portrait gallery to trace how his image and technique changed, and you step into the drawings and letters room to examine sketches, materials, and correspondence. If time permits and the space is open, you finish with the current temporary exhibition before concluding near the museum shop so you can continue exploring independently.
