    Your journey begins early in Marrakech, with a pick-up from your accommodation at 8:30 AM. We will travel through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in Morocco, nestled between the rugged peaks of the High Atlas Mountains. As we drive along winding roads, you’ll be mesmerized by the stunning views of Berber villages clinging to the mountainside and the changing landscape as you descend towards the plains.

    Ait Ben Haddou

    Our first stop is Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most famous kasbahs and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village, made from adobe and clay, has been the backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Take time to explore its narrow alleyways, ancient watchtowers, and panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

    Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Village

    Discover Todra Gorge with Locals - Tourist Information & Experience Center

    After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey towards the Todra Gorge, a magnificent canyon where the Todra River has carved towering cliffs over the centuries. The red cliffs, rising 300 meters above the valley floor, are a favorite spot for rock climbers, and you’ll have the opportunity to hike along the base of the cliffs for around 1.5 hours. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the palm trees, fields, and ancient Berber villages that dot the valley.

    We’ll then continue on our way to Merzouga, passing through arid landscapes and isolated villages. En route, we’ll stop at local fossil sites where artisans search for and process ancient fossils. After a scenic drive through the Erg Chebbi desert, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of traditional mint tea at your riad, located near the sand dunes. Enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and breakfast included at the riad.

    Day 3: Merzouga Desert Exploration and Overnight at the Desert Camp

    Today, immerse yourself in the magic of the Merzouga Desert. After breakfast, we’ll begin the day by visiting the Oasis in the desert, a tranquil and beautiful spot surrounded by palm trees and tranquil pools. From there, we’ll continue on to Khamlia Village, home to the Gnawa people, descendants of former slaves from sub-Saharan Africa. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about their history, music, and lifestyle as they perform traditional Gnawa music for you.

    Next, we’ll visit a nomadic family living in traditional Berber tents in the desert. Experience their way of life as you spend time with the family, learning about their customs and daily activities. For lunch, you’ll have the chance to sample a delicious Berber pizza prepared by a local family in the desert. In the afternoon, we’ll take a trip to the historic town of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite Dynasty, the current ruling family of Morocco. Rissani’s souk (market) is a vibrant and bustling hub, where you can shop for spices, textiles, and handicrafts. You’ll also see the 360 ksar (fortified villages), a unique sight in the region.

    After exploring the town, we’ll head back to Merzouga, where you’ll embark on a camel trek, guided by experienced camel handlers. Afterward, we’ll travel along the fascinating Draa Valley, known for its palm groves and Berber kasbahs that stretch along the valley floor.
