Starting along Estrada da Conceição, this hike begins in the lower part of the trail and gradually ascends over rocky terrain, offering an immersive walk through one of the island’s most scenic landscapes. As you climb, the path leads to the famous “Piquinho,” also known as the rappel rock, a strategic viewpoint that rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramic views. From this spot, you can admire the impressive Morro do Pico in the background—the highest point on the island at 321 meters—along with iconic landmarks such as Praia do Cachorro and the historic Fortaleza dos Remédios. The journey continues toward a higher elevation of 217 meters, where the experience reaches its highlight: a spectacular sunset seen from above, with sweeping views of the coastline and the island below.
