It connects the island of Honshu to the island of Shikoku and consists of a series of bridges, tunnels, and causeways. Along the route, there are several rest stops and lookout points where visitors can take in the views and enjoy the scenery. From the main route, you can take detours through the small islands linked by the Shimanami Kaido.
