    Nine Arches Bridge

The Nine Arch Bridge, dating back to 1921, is a remarkable feat of engineering and architecture located between Ella and Demodara railway stations. Visitors who choose to walk along it are greeted with breathtaking views of rolling hills and dense jungle. Also known as the 'Bridge in the Sky', it was constructed by connecting two bog mountains during the building of the Badulla-Colombo railway. The bridge spans 300 feet, is 25 feet wide, and stands 80-100 feet tall, making it a prime example of colonial-era railway construction in Sri Lanka. To reach the bridge, travel 2km on Gotuwala road from Halpe Textile center on Badulla Bandarawela road. Due to its architectural ingenuity and lush greenery in the nearby hillsides, the surrounding area has seen a steady increase in tourism. If you're planning to visit, it's best to go when the locomotives come roaring along and don't forget to bring your camera to capture every moment of this picturesque wonder.
