On our buggy tour, we will visit the Macao cave, located in the community of El Salado. It is an impressive Cenote. The Taina Macao Cave is a natural spectacle that has a freshwater lagoon inside that is approximately the size of an Olympic swimming pool. Due to its easy entry, its spaciousness and its clear water, Taina Macao is one of the best options for those who do a dive for the first time. The Taina Macao cave is located only 30 minutes from Bávaro and is easily accessible. With a depth of no more than 8 m, the cave has a length of about 50 meters and in it you can enjoy crystal clear waters, as well as impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The cave was named after the aboriginal inhabitants, the Indians of Hispaniola: the Tainos. The Tainos settled in the Macao area decades ago where the cave is located and used it as their source of drinking water.
