2 to 3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

Our walking food tour in Ghent is unique because we offer a combination of sightseeing in and outside the city centre and some good food and drink tasters. These tasters are traditional Ghent and Belgian specialities, but also include some international dishes. After all, Ghent is multicultural, which also reflects in the city's eateries, created by people who also made Ghent their home.

We support local, small businesses and get you in touch with the locals who are happy to share their story as well.

This tour shall include all your senses. See the sights and the food, feel and smell the food before you eat it and listen to your guide's stories. Our groups are small to keep it safe and to give you the best possible experience.

Itinerary

Duration: 2 to 3 hours (approximately)
  • Vrijdagmarkt (Pass by)

We start this walking food tour in Ghent at the Artevelde statue at Friday Market. This is a historical square with interesting houses and some cool facts. After a brief introduction and information about what to expect, we explore the square and the surrounding streets. We have a few shops and eateries that we visit. Food & drink tasters in this area can exist of beef stew and fries, chocolate, vegan cheese and muffins and the very best of Belgian chocolate. Please note that this itinerary is an example only and also the suggested tasters are examples. We adjust ourselves to the partners we work with and when they are closed on the day that you visit, we choose a different one. Just so you know :) When you book, we will let you know what you can expect, but we also want to surprise you!

  • Gravensteen (Pass by)

Following the discovery of Friday Market and surroundings, your guide will take you to another highlight of our city - the Castle of the Counts (Gravensteen). This is a medieval castle with a lot of stories to tell. Your guide will take you to the surrounding areas as such. For instance, Saint Veerle Square. In this area, the food and drink taster examples are "real" Belgian waffles, chocolate, cheese, wine and beer, Ghent ham (Ghanda ham). Very mouthwatering, isn't it? :) Be surprised about what you are getting!

  • Graslei and Korenlei (Pass by)

From the Castle of the Counts, get yourself to the very heart of Ghent's old town with your guide. Graslei and Korenlei are not to be missed areas. This was the place to be in the Middle Ages, but it is still the most popular area to hang out. Your guide will explain to you its importance and tell you some hidden secrets. There are no food and drink stops here.

    Admission ticket free
  • Het Belfort van Gent (Pass by)

The Ghent Belfry is one of the oldest in Belgium and next on your itinerary. As a matter of fact, you will get to see the Saint Nicolas Church, the Belfry and the Saint Bavo Cathedral all at once. These are the 3 Medieval towers of Ghent. Apart from beautiful views and some cool streets around this area, there are also some great food and drink tasters. For example chocolate, wine, exotic street food Flemish meatballs or plant-based food deliciousness. You will definitely be surprised by all the goodies!
