Travel through the historic Presidio on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. Once a military post and now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Presidio combines cypress-lined roads, historic buildings, coastal scenery, and dramatic glimpses of the bridge.
Travel past Crissy Field in the Presidio, with open waterfront views toward San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. This former military airfield is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and provides one of the city's classic approaches to the bridge.

Cross San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge on the way to Muir Woods. On the return trip to San Francisco time to stop for photos at one of the best available nearby viewpoints. Depending on weather, fog, traffic, and road conditions, your guide may choose Vista Point, Fort Baker, the Marin Headlands, or another favorite overlook for memorable views of the bridge, Bay, Pacific Ocean, and San Francisco skyline.
Depending on the day's route, your guide may use Fort Point as a Golden Gate Bridge photo location before crossing into Marin. Positioned directly beneath the bridge, this historic Civil War-era fort provides one of the most dramatic low-angle perspectives of the landmark.
Step beneath the towering coastal redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument, the centerpiece of this private tour. Some of these remarkable trees are nearly 1,000 years old and rise more than 250 feet above the forest floor. Your visit inside the park is self-guided, allowing you to walk the peaceful trails at your own pace instead of following a large tour group. Most guests spend approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour exploring before meeting their guide again at the agreed-upon pickup time.
Head toward the Pacific coast for a scenic stop at Muir Beach Overlook, one of the tour's most memorable surprises. Step out for sweeping views of rugged Marin cliffs, the Pacific Ocean, and the dramatic Northern California coastline. Depending on timing, weather, and road conditions, the tour may stop at Muir Beach itself or the overlook above the coast.
Alternate Scenic Stop - When timing and conditions favor a beach-level stop, visit Muir Beach instead of the overlook. Enjoy fresh Pacific air and views of the rugged Marin coastline before continuing toward Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Cruise through the picturesque bayside town of Sausalito on the return toward San Francisco. See marinas, hillside homes, waterfront restaurants, galleries, cafés, and harbor views while your guide introduces this relaxed community just across the Golden Gate Bridge from the city.
Option to return to San Francisco by Ferry: Guests who want more time in Sausalito may choose to finish their Jeep tour here instead of immediately returning to San Francisco. Stay to explore the waterfront, visit shops and galleries, enjoy a meal or coffee, and return to San Francisco independently by ferry. Ferry tickets are not included and are paid separately by guests.
Travel above the bridge to the Marin Headlands for a spectacular final Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint before returning to San Francisco. Step out for photos from an elevated overlook with panoramic views of the bridge, San Francisco skyline, Bay, and Pacific Ocean. The exact viewpoint is selected by your guide according to fog, weather, traffic, and road conditions.
RETURN CROSSING - Cross the Golden Gate Bridge again on the return to San Francisco, enjoying a completely different perspective from the Jeep as the city skyline opens ahead.
Alternate Golden Gate Bridge Photo stop: Fort Baker is another possible Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint on the Marin side. Enjoy a lower-angle perspective of the bridge along with beautiful views across San Francisco Bay toward the city skyline.
