If you like multicultural places, you have just come to the perfect place. Tui is a town on the border with Portugal, from which it is only separated by the Miño River. In fact, Tui forms a Eurocity with Valença do Minho. Furthermore, it is an amalgamation of people because here pilgrims who, like you, begin the adventure, meet with pilgrims who come walking from Portugal. Perfect for meeting people, listening, sharing experiences and preparing for the adventure you are about to begin. Enjoy your Portuguese Camino from Tui!

Today continue your path and the reward for your effort will be taking you to the Ría de Vigo as a companion. Lately in Spain there is a tradition of placing benches with the title “The most beautiful bench in the world” in places with privileged views. Well, there should be a bench at each point that you are going to visit during the day. I don't think we need to tell you more. The best views of the coast of southern Galicia will rise before you today. To culminate this glorious day in which you will arrive ecstatic with so much natural beauty, what better than eating some good oysters at Arcade. It is not in vain that this place is considered the capital of oysters. I assure you that you have not tried anything like it. Of course, don't forget to accompany your meal with a delicious glass of Albariño, the best white wine in the area.

Arcade Stage - Pontevedra (12 Kms)

    1 stop
  • 4

You will leave Arcade behind and begin the stage by crossing one of the most historically important bridges in Galicia, Ponte Sampaio. A colossal stone bridge that spans the Verdugo River and where, during the War of Independence, a battle was fought that led to the withdrawal of French troops in Galicia. After crossing the bridge you will wander through villages, manors, hórreos and cruzeiros until you reach the Brea Vella da Canicouva, an evocative path of large slabs along which the 19th Roman road ran. Pontevedra is one of the most beautiful cities in Galicia. A walk through its cobbled streets and squares will be enough to realize its charm. After Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra is the place on the Portuguese Way from Tui with the most heritage elements. You can visit, among other things, the Ruins of Santo Domingo in the Provincial Museum of Pontevedra, the Royal Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, and the symbol of the city: the Peregrina church.

Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis Stage (21 Kms)

    1 stop
  • 5

After crossing the Lérez River, the Camino leaves Pontevedra and will take you to the Marismas de Alba observatory, a large 80-hectare wetland that is home to hundreds of plant species and 123 species of birds. The route runs along roads where many crossroads and level crossings converge, so you should take extreme caution. Once you arrive in Briallos, we recommend that you detour half a kilometer to visit the Barosa Waterfalls, a natural area of extraordinary beauty, with a beautiful sixty-meter waterfall and fourteen windmills arranged along the waterfalls. Now at the end of your stage, Caldas de Reis, water continues to be the protagonist as it is one of the most important thermal towns in Galicia. We present the perfect plan to enjoy a pleasant afternoon: After a brief walk through the garden botanical sit on one of its terraces and enjoy the tranquility listening to the murmur of the river.

    Padron

We leave Caldas behind to enter the Bermaña valley. The route continues through forests of ancient trees, oak groves, cornfields and cruzeiros. After a gentle climb you will reach Santa Mariña de Carracedo, a small charming village. The road continues towards Padrón passing through deep forests with water mills and leaving behind small villages until reaching Pontecesures. We cross the Roman bridge to reach our destination: Padrón. Today's plan is about literature. On this day we introduce you to Rosalía de Castro, one of the most illustrious Galicians in history. In his Padrón House-Museum, you can learn everything about his life and work. Padrón is also a mythical place, according to legend this is where the boat carrying the remains of the apostle Santiago landed. You can visit the famous Pedrón that was used to moor the boat in the town's Santiago church. And how could it be otherwise, no one can leave without trying their famous peppers.

Last day of the pilgrim experience! As we always say, the ideal is to get up early to make the most of the day in Santiago de Compostela. Today's stage will go by super quickly between the nerves and the excitement of the imminent arrival. The path continues through the municipalities of Teo and Ames until it ends with your triumphal entry in the Plaza del Obradoiro. Without a doubt the most emotional moment of your entire Portuguese Camino from Tui. You are in Santiago! Feel happy and proud to have completed your Camino Portugues from Tui.
