This is a very rich tour exploring the medieval areas of Transylvania. You’ll have the chance to discover the history behind three of the most visited and appreciated fortified churches and citadels in the heart of Romania. The first stop is at Prejmer, which seems to be more of a fortified small town, rather than just a fortified church. You’ll have the chance to admire a unique courtyard and let yourself impressed by the creativity of it’s medieval touches.
The second stop is the Fortified Church in Harman. Back then, this church was more than just a place people would go to pray in. It was also used as a refuge for people in need.
Next is the Rasnov Citadel. It’s a very impressive Citadel build on top of a hill. It’s main purpose used to be of defense.
We end the day with a lovely walk around the most well-known ski resort in Romania: Poiana Brasov. This is a place worth visiting no matter the season. It’s also a chance for you to get to know a different part of Romania.
Pick up time is at 8:30 am from your accommodation in Brasov. Please send us the name of your hotel/hostel/apartment in Brasov. Thank you!
This is a day dedicated to fortified churches and citadels. Explore the beautiful area of Barsa Land, surround by seven different mountains, and discover the amazing heritage that the Saxon population built more than 800 years ago. With its impressive walls and strong fortifications, Prejmer seems to be more of a fortified small town rather than just a fortified church. Explore the amazingly unique courtyard and let yourself be impressed by the creativity of its medieval inhabitants.
From there head to Harman, the close relative of Prejmer. With its white walls, the fortified church in Harman allows you a glimpse into a different time, when churches were more than just places where people prayed, and they were used as places of refuge in time of need.
End the day at Rasnov, the citadel built on top of a hill, where more than 80 houses were built inside the walls to accommodate three villages in times of need. Walk the narrow streets of the fortification and enjoy amazing views of Barsa Land from the observation deck on top of the citadel.
We return back to Brasov via the Poiana Brasov – Brasov route. Poiana Brasov is the biggest ski resort in Romania and very worth visiting. Here, we will take a short walk along with the resort.
