Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8:30am (departure times will be adjusted according to the season.) First off, you’ll visit the central landmark of Beijing, Tiananmen Square. China is the most populous country in the world, thousands visit the Square daily. Modern China began here. Within the center of Tiananmen Square is a monument dedicated to the People’s Heroes, those who died during the Second World War. On the east side is the Great wall of the People; heading west is the National History Museum; and on the south is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. The architectural structure of the square was established in accordance with the traditional Chinese theory of Feng Shui (BE SURE TO TAKE A PHOTO HERE.)
The tour guide will take you from the South Gate to the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City was once the royal palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties in China. It has experienced 24 emperors and represents the highest level of Chinese architecture. It is the world’s largest and most preserved building complex of the Forbidden City’s wooden structure palace. You’ll leave the East Gate after visiting the main attractions.
Your private car will then bring you to the Bell and Drum Tower which is surrounded by the Beijing Hutong area providing a window into the City’s past. For thousands of years, Beijingers have lived in the narrow alley area. In order to avoid the destruction of these traditional structures in modern cities, the government protects the area. Under the guidance of a guide, you may tour a local family’s home and witness their life. Lunch will be arranged near the Drum Tower.

After such a morning comes a hearty, delicious meal in? It's about a 90-minute drive to the Summer Palace, a traditional Chinese garden consisting of Kunming Lake, Longevity Hill and the architectural, horticultural wonder that is Riverside House. Not as majestic as the Imperial Palace, this gem sparkles with symmetry, restraint and beauty. On the way back to the hotel we'll pass the famous Bird Nest national stadium.
