This tour goes beyond merely walking in the park and pointing out landmarks you may have seen in TV shows and movies. We will start off by discussing urban development in the 19th Century and how the Park came to be. As we move through the Park, we will bounce back and forth through its history and highlight different events that define it. Central Park has become the cornerstone of Manhattan and is perhaps what distinguishes New York from other global cities. Don't miss this chance to truly understand it.
We will meet under the General Sherman Statue in Grand Army Plaza at the southeast entrance to Central Park. The nearest subway is the 5th Ave / 59th St N/R/W. Please be aware that there is another Grand Army Plaza at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Don't go to that one.
The tour will end at the West 72nd St. entrance to the park. It is across the street from the famed Dakota apartment building. The nearest subway 72nd St. A/C, and B.
On this approximately 2-hour tour we will discuss the history and importance of Central Park while experiencing some of its most famous landmarks!
