This tour is perfect for the traveling naturalist who wants to experience Florida from both the land and the water. The closer you get to the spring, the clearer the water gets. The water is crystal clear during our yoga practice and you will enjoy seeing turtles and fish swim around you. Florida springs truly feel like the fountain of youth. You will return from your tour and yoga class feeling grounded, relaxed, and refreshed.

Wekiva Island and Wekiwa Springs State Park are both very fun and unique properties and you will experience them both! Wekiva Island is a privately-owned eco-conscious recreational business where locals enjoy the relaxed and laid back atmosphere while enjoying food and drinks. Wekiwa Springs State Park offers the nature side of the river life and protects lands surrounding Florida's vital waterways. The state park offers swimming as well as hiking trails through the upland and wetland ecosystems.

What to expect

The tour meets on the eco-friendly private property of Wekiva Island in Longwood, FL. Once the group arrives and everyone checks in with the guide, you are geared up and given a safety briefing and paddling instructions. Once on the boards, we enjoy an easy 45-minute paddle up a lazy river and watch the water slowly become clear. We often see wildlife such as fish, turtles, and sometimes the elusive otter, swim around us. We emerge into a crystal clear spring-fed lagoon that marks the beginning of Wekiwa Springs State Park. This lagoon is where we have our 45-minute yoga practice. After yoga, enjoy 30 minutes of free time to explore Wekiva Springs state park before we begin our easy downriver float to our launch point at Wekiva Island. After our return, relax and enjoy the views and atmosphere of the Florida river life. Wekiva Island has lots to explore (including a LEED certified platinum building) as well as food and drinks (soft drinks, beer and wine) available for purchase. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the property as long as you wish during their business hours.
