This is one of the most surreal views you will ever see. During this tour, we will discuss the many interesting theories of how the wood came to be petrified, as well as the amazing exposed strata of the painted desert known as the Chinle Formation. We will also go over the rich native history in the area, as we walk amongst the ancient lands. There are a couple options for hiking the Badlands in the park.
Before we visit the park, we take lunch in town and drive old Route 66 via Holbrook.
We then take 4 hrs to explore the PFNP and travel North hitting most of the sites. We see 2000 year old Petroglyphs, 216 million year old Crystal trees, and the painted desert/rainbow hills.
We will be traveling in either a Honda Odysey mini van, or a large 12 passenger van, depending on your group size. Logos are clearly marked on each side.
We pick up from anywhere in the Sedona area, or anywhere along the way of 89a or i40. Enjoy the amazing scenery while we go over the geology, history, and the sites along the way.
We stop for lunch along Route 66
This is one of the most surreal views you will ever see. You will feel as though you are walking on another planet when you visit one of Arizona's best kept secrets. During this tour, we will discuss the many interesting theories of how the wood came to be petrified, as well as the amazing exposed strata of the painted desert known as the Chinle Formation (which is only exposed in this region of Arizona). We will also go over the rich native history in the area, as we walk amongst the ancient Hopi and Navajo lands.
Walk amongst the crystal trees. We explore and discuss the amazing exposed strata and how it all came to be.
Observe some of the more oddities of the petrified wood and how it's exposing itself.
Walk amongst the landscape that looks as if we're on a another planet. This is up to a 1 like loop where we walk in the midst of the Blue Mesa badlands.
My personal favorite view. I'm clear days we can see over 100 miles into the distance. Viewing the San Francisco peaks in Flagstaff, the ancient Hopi Mesas, and a never ending field of deep red Badlands.
