What to expect

This tour takes you through Pukekawa, Auckland’s oldest park, built on a 100,000-year-old ancient volcano from the Pleistocene era. You’ll explore stunning waterfalls, lush Nikau palms, and the magical glowworms that make this place truly special.

While it doesn’t feature as many glowworms as Waitomo Caves, this tour offers the perfect opportunity to see them up close in Auckland city—without the long travel times, high entry fees, or crowded spaces. You’ll learn all about these incredible creatures, observe their bioluminescence in person, and capture amazing photos of this natural wonder.

Please note: this tour has ~40 steps up (and down), ~5% gradient, undulating terrain/gravel/tree roots, the path is dark (not lit with lights - however we use our own lights) and is approximately 1.3km in distance.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes - ideally footwear you don't mind getting wet/muddy.
Bring a camera for photos.
