Day 1
Hiking from Momella Gate (1387m) to Miriakamba Huts (2514m)

After meeting at Jevas Hotel in Arusha and receiving a briefing for the upcoming trip, your exciting safari adventure to Arusha National Park’s Momela Gate will begin. Upon arrival, our guides will manage the entry permit process, and your trek to Miriakamba Huts will commence, accompanied by an armed park ranger. As you hike through the open grasslands, keep an eye out for giraffes, buffaloes, and other wildlife. After about two hours, you’ll reach Maio Falls—perfect for a relaxing break and a picnic. Continuing on, you’ll pass the famous "fig tree arch" before reaching your final destination at Miriakamba Huts. There, you’ll be greeted with afternoon tea and snacks, marking the end of your trek for the day.

Day 2
Hiking from Miriakamba Huts (2514m) to Saddle Huts (3570m)

After breakfast, you'll begin your ascent along a steep, wooden path. As you gain altitude, the air will grow noticeably cooler than the day before, making the climb feel more manageable. The rainforest often shrouds itself in low-hanging clouds, lending a mystical atmosphere to the lush surroundings. After approximately two hours of uphill trekking, you'll reach the "Mgongo wa Tembo" (Elephant Back) lookout point, located at 3,200 meters. Here, you'll be rewarded with a well-deserved break and stunning panoramic views. The landscape will shift from dense rainforest to heather and moorland, and you'll arrive at Saddle Huts around noon. Upon reaching Saddle Huts, our team will serve a warm meal to replenish your energy before you retire for an early night, as the wake-up call is scheduled shortly after midnight.

Day 3
Saddle Hut (3570m) to Socialist Peak (4565m) to Miriakamba Hut (2514m)

You will rise at midnight to begin your ascent to Socialist Peak, preparing for a demanding and strenuous climb. With headlamps lighting the way, you'll navigate through the bushland, making your way to Rhino Point (3,821m). The sections leading to both Rhino and Cobra Points are particularly steep, so take extra care as you ascend. After approximately 4 to 5 hours of hard trekking, you will reach the summit of Socialist Peak. There, you'll be rewarded with a stunning sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro, along with panoramic views of Mount Meru's crater, its dramatic cliffs, and the central ash cone. The return journey will take you back along the same route to Saddle Huts, where you can enjoy a restorative break with hot soup and tea. From there, you’ll continue your descent to Miriakamba Hut to rest and recover.

Day 4
Miriakamba Hut (2514m) to Momella Gate (1387m)

After breakfast, you'll begin your descent to Momella Gate. The early morning hike presents a fantastic opportunity to spot wildlife, as animals are typically most active during this time. Upon arrival at Momella Gate, our Suricata Safaris team will be waiting with a vehicle to transport you back to Jevas Hotel in Arusha, a scenic 40-minute drive away, where you’ll be dropped off to relax and unwind.
