Follow in the footsteps of Darlene, Naomi, Marlon and Mervin on this Death in Paradise tour in Guadeloupe, departing from the cruise terminal in Pointe-à-Pitre. Drink where they drank, walk where they walked and eat where they ate. You will be guided by someone who was an extra in seasons 14 and 15 of the series.
You will have the opportunity to have lunch at Catherine’s Bar or simply enjoy an hour of free time in the village of Honoré.
Pointe-à-Pitre cruise terminal: Our driver and guide will be waiting for you from 8:30 am near the tourist office and shops (Terminal 1) of the cruise terminal with a sign mentioning your name. Further information will be provided at a later date.
Your guide will take you on a scenic drive along the coast. You will drive along the magnificent beach where the Inspector’s house aka “shack” is set up every year during the filming period. Your guide will describe the scenes filmed on this site and the difficult shooting environment for the actors. Please note: the Inspector’s house is only visible from May to August.
Your guide will then take you to the botanical garden in the village of Deshaies, also known as Village Honoré. During this free one-hour visit, you can admire a magnificent collection of water lilies, a pond full of koi carp, discover the village of parrots and lorikeets, and the majestic Talipot palm, unique in Guadeloupe! You’ll also have the chance to feed the animals present! A private villa in the garden was the setting for the scene in which the series’ first detective, Richard Poole, was found murdered (the villa is not open to visitors).
You will continue your excursion with a visit to Port Honoré, where all the scenes linked to the departure or arrival of a boat, or referring to a port, were filmed. You’ll discover a sublime view of the village bay, its church and a distant glimpse of Catherine’s bar. It’s a sublime spot for souvenir photos. Don’t forget your camera or smartphone!
Your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historic centre of Honoré village, where you’ll discover various filming locations: the church, Catherine’s first bar, etc. You’ll learn about the constraints of filming and what goes on behind the scenes.
Your guide then will take you to the Honoré police station for a photo stop. This is the only permanent filming location dedicated exclusively to this crime series. Your guide will explain the history of the site and the role it plays in the series. If it is open on the day of your visit, you are welcome to take some time to explore it. Visits are usually permitted from December to April. You will pay on site for the ticket (€15 or$20).
After this stop at the Catherine’s Bar, you will have 2 options: 1. Lunch at Catherine’s Bar: To ensure you have the most enjoyable experience possible, the menu will be sent to you by email so that you can order in advance and save time on the day. We will then book a table for the group. This option is not available on Wednesdays and public holidays (Christmas, New Year’s Day, Easter, etc.). Lunch is not included in the price. 2. Free time to explore Honoré Village at your leisure: For around 60 minutes, you can simply have a drink at the bar (Catherine’s Bar is closed on Wednesdays), relax on the small beach next to the bar, or go for a short stroll. If you’d like to have a drink at Catherine’s Bar, please note that we cannot guarantee you a table, as reservations are only available for lunch. You’ll simply need to find a seat when you arrive.
After lunch or your free time, your guide will take you on a scenic drive along the coast, and your driver will stop so you can admire the breathtaking views. At the next stop, you’ll also enjoy a stunning view of a hotel complex, a recurring filming location for the series and the place where the film crews stay.
After this stop, it will be time to board your minibus for the return journey to the cruise terminal in Pointe-à-Pitre. Depending on the departure time of your cruise ship, the return journey will take place at around 2.30 or 3pm.
The walking tour will end at the Catehrine’s Bar where your guide will give you an introduction of this site.
