What to expect
Perfect for beginners, this 1.5-hour group lesson is designed to build confidence and teach you the fundamentals of surfing in a fun and supportive environment.
We'll start with a warm welcome and safety briefing before learning ocean awareness, paddling techniques, and how to stand on your board—all demonstrated step-by-step on the sand. Then, hit the shallow waters where your Surfing New Zealand-certified instructor will guide you as you catch waves and practice your new skills.
With small group sizes (max 8 per instructor), you'll enjoy plenty of personalised tips and encouragement.
All equipment, including surfboards and wetsuits, is provided—just bring swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen. Suitable for ages 10+ with basic swimming ability.
