Waterfalls, Caves and Native Petroglyphs Adventure from San Juan

Offered in: English and 1 more

Skip the crowds at Charco El Hippie and discover what most visitors never find — hidden caves, ancient Taíno petroglyphs, and a secluded waterfall deep in the Puerto Rico jungle that few people ever reach.

This small-group guided day trip takes you to the off-the-beaten-path south side of El Yunque along the Rio Blanco in Naguabo. Hotel pickup from San Juan or Fajardo in an air-conditioned vehicle — no stressful mountain driving, no lost GPS signal, no car break-in risk at the trailhead.

Choose your adventure: swim in crystal-clear natural pools beneath the main waterfall, or gear up with helmets for the full expedition — river rapids, ancient petroglyphs and hidden waterfalls. Please note that parts of the hike may be physically demanding, and participation in certain sections is at the guide’s discretion.

Ends with a stop at the Naguabo Malecón — a Caribbean boardwalk with 30+ fresh seafood spots and ocean views. Small groups only. Limited spots per departure.

Pickup points
You can choose a pickup location at checkout (multiple pickup locations are available).
Pickup details:

HOTEL PICKUP: Enter your exact hotel or pickup address at checkout. If your hotel does not appear on the list, please contact us after booking. We also offer pickup in Rio Grande, Luquillo, and Fajardo area hotels. Pickup window is 6:00-6:30 AM from the San Juan area. Your driver will contact you the day before with your exact pickup time. Ride time to the falls is approximately 75-90 minutes depending on hotel location.

FAJARDO MEETUP: Meet at Farmacia Caridad #39, 4227 C. Marginal, Fajardo 00738 (across from Ralph's Supermarket, off Highway 3). Arrive by 7:15 AM. Your guide drives you from here — do NOT drive yourself to Charco El Hippie. The mountain roads are narrow, cell service drops out, and car break-ins have been reported at the parking area.

FOOTWEAR:
- Adventure Expedition guests: Sneakers REQUIRED. No flip-flops, sandals, or Crocs. The hiking terrain is rocky and slippery.
- Waterfall Pool guests (not participating in the hike): Flip-flops, sandals, and water shoes are fine. You will not be on rugged terrain.

Wear swimwear under comfortable clothes. Bring a towel and dry change of clothes. Bring cash or card for food at the Naguabo Malecón stop.
