What to expect
Your first landmark is the Banksy work on Rivington Street — or rather, the tradition of street art in that corner of East London that Banksy helped define, where new murals appear and disappear with the seasons and the walls are as much a gallery as anything with a roof.
From there the app takes you to one of the Jack the Ripper murder sites, where the Victorian era's most notorious unsolved crime intersects with a neighbourhood that has entirely transformed since 1888 — a contrast that says much about how London changes and what it chooses to remember.
The route concludes at Shoreditch Church — St Leonard's — one of the oldest churches in London, mentioned in the nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons, and the burial site of several Elizabethan actors from the theatres that once stood nearby.
Around 2 hours on foot. Shoreditch rewards slow walkers.
