What to expect
Your first landmark is Haus zum Riesen, a 16th-century Renaissance mansion on the Hauptstrasse whose carved doorway and layered facade make it one of the finest buildings on the most famous street in Heidelberg.
From there the app takes you to Universitätsplatz, the heart of one of Germany's oldest universities, where student life and city life have overlapped for more than 600 years in a square surrounded by historic faculty buildings.
The route concludes at the Alte Brücke, the Old Bridge across the Neckar, offering the classic view of the castle above and the town below that has made Heidelberg one of the most painted cities in Europe.
Allow around 2 hours. The walk is largely flat through the old town, and the game saves your progress if you stop to look around.
