Milan Self-Guided City Walking Tour & Scavenger Hunt

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: German and 5 more

Milan means fashion and finance to most — but the riddles are more interested in its Gothic cathedral, its Sforza castle, and a rather unusual bridge.

This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through Milan on foot, using phone-based riddles to guide you from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time.

• Solve clues at the Duomo di Milano, Castello Sforzesco, and the Ponte delle Sirenette — eight centuries of civic grandeur and artistic ambition
• Walk through the heart of Milan at your own pace with no guide required
• Perfect for couples, families, and groups of any size

Around 2 hours, any group size, available in Italian, English, and German.

The fashion week crowds leave. The Duomo doesn't.

What to expect

Starting at P.za del Duomo, 6, 20123 Milano MI, Italy, open the Explorial app and enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message. You begin in one of the most spectacular squares in Europe — the riddles take you from here through six centuries of Milanese history.

Your first landmark is the Duomo di Milano itself, a Gothic cathedral begun in 1386 and not completed until Napoleon ordered the finishing touches in 1809, whose forest of pinnacles, 3,400 statues, and luminous marble facade make it the third-largest church in the world.

From there the app takes you to Castello Sforzesco, the 15th-century castle of the Sforza dukes that dominates the far end of the city's main axis — a complex of courtyards, museums, and towers that once housed Leonardo da Vinci in his most productive years.

The route concludes at the Ponte delle Sirenette, the little Bridge of the Mermaids over the Naviglio canal, a modest 19th-century cast-iron footbridge whose mermaids and ornamental ironwork offer a charming contrast to the grandeur of what came before.

Around 2 hours on foot through mostly flat central Milan.
