Offered in: German

The Munich Olympiapark was built for 1972 and has hosted everything from rock concerts to world championships — one of Europe's most remarkable urban parks.

This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through Munich on foot, using phone-based riddles to guide you from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time.

• Solve riddles at the Olympiaturm, the Olympiaberg, and BMW Welt — Cold War sport, 1970s futurism, and Bavarian engineering pride
• Walk through the park at your own pace with no fixed timetable
• Great for families, sports history fans, and groups of any size

Around 2 hours, any group size, available in German.

The '72 Games shaped this park. The riddles explain how.

What to expect

Starting at Lerchenauer Str. 65, 80809 München, Germany, open the Explorial app and enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message. The riddles take you through a complex that was built as a statement of peaceful, transparent Germany — and became something more complicated.

Your first landmark is the Olympiaturm, the 291-metre television tower completed in 1968 that still stands as one of the tallest structures in Munich. Its observation deck offers views across the park, the city, and on clear days, the Alps to the south.

From there the app guides you to the Olympiaberg, the artificial hill built from World War II rubble — one of the largest such constructions in Germany — whose grassy slopes now serve as a toboggan run in winter and a concert venue in summer.

The route concludes at BMW Welt, the striking double-cone building that serves as BMW's delivery centre and automotive museum, a piece of 21st-century architecture that holds its own against the Frei Otto tensile roof structures of the 1972 Games next door.

Around 2 hours on foot through a park that is genuinely pleasant in any season.
