What to expect
The trail takes you through Lienz's compact old town, set against the East Tyrolean Alps. The Liebburg — the Renaissance castle that now serves as the town hall — features early with a riddle that sends you into the courtyard details most visitors walk straight through. The Spitalsbrücke, the old bridge over the Isel, features in a photo challenge that makes the most of the mountain views upstream. The Isel itself — the glacial river through the heart of Lienz — is the setting for an observation task that asks you to look at the riverbank carefully. The old town is small; there's no pressure to rush.
Groups tend to slow down once they notice how much better the photos are with the Dolomites in the background.
The app reveals final scores and a ranking when the last task is done. Lienz is one of the most scenic small towns in Austria; the trail is the best excuse to explore it properly.
