What to expect
Your first landmark is the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims, where 33 French kings were crowned between 1027 and 1825. Even among the great cathedrals of France, Reims stands apart — and the riddles will send you hunting for the details that make it exceptional.
From the cathedral, the hunt takes you to Le Cellier, the historic wine cellar network running beneath the city's streets. Reims sits above kilometres of chalk tunnels quarried by the Romans and now home to the great Champagne houses.
The route finishes at the Palais du Tau, the Gothic palace where French kings rested before their coronations. Today it houses the cathedral treasury and some of the finest medieval artefacts in France.
The tour takes around 2 hours at a relaxed pace. Reims makes you feel the full weight of European history — and this hunt is the best way to take that in.
