What to expect
Schloss Rapperswil crowns the peninsula: a stern 13th-century castle with sweeping views over Lake Zurich and the Alps, plus a Polish museum with a story the riddles will unpack.
Below the walls, the Rosengarten earns the town its nickname — thousands of roses in hundreds of varieties, and at least one clue hiding among the beds.
Then comes the Seedamm and Holzsteg: a wooden footbridge running 841 metres across the lake, following a crossing point used since prehistoric times.
Around 2 hours with lake views most of the way, gelato optional. By the end, the town of roses will have earned a place on your shortlist of Swiss favourites.
