What to expect

Explore Iztaccihuatl-Popocatépetl National Park on a guided hike on Iztaccihuatl, with spectacular views of the active Popocatépetl volcano.

Your certified guide will explain the high-altitude ecosystem while you hike through pine forests and volcanic landscapes. Experience fresh mountain air at elevations between 3,600 and 4,500 meters above sea level.

The tour includes private round-trip transportation from Puebla. When booking, you can choose between three hiking levels:

Level 1 – Beginner
Scenic hike of 8–9 km with moderate uphill sections. We reach a viewpoint with views of both volcanoes.
Elevation: 3,600 – 3,980 m
Duration: 3–4 hours

Level 2 – Intermediate
13–14 km hike on mostly sandy trails. Along the way we pass a small waterfall and two streams with views of Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl.
Elevation: 3,600 – 3,960 m
Duration: about 5 hours

Level 3 – High Altitude
7 km hike on Iztaccihuatl starting from La Joya, with volcanic sand and loose rock terrain.
Elevation: 3,990 – 4,500 m
Duration: 5–6 hours
