“FURUSATO Cycling” is a new tour project designed to let you fully experience the “REAL HAGI”. Enjoy a guided cycling tour through beautiful countryside landscapes, feel the local lifestyle, and visit special places not usually open to visitors.
Our first tour focuses on Japanese sake. Follow the brewing process of locally made Hagi sake, including visits to the rice fields, water source areas, a local sake brewery, and a rice polishing facility.

Access to the tour location
The tour starts about 30 minutes by car from central Hagi. If you plan to come without a rental car, please let us know when booking. We will be happy to assist you.
After the tour, guests may visit a local sake brewery and enjoy sake tasting if interested.

【Sake rice polishing factory】 The process "polishing" is performed before the actually harvested sake rice is transported to the sake brewery. The taste of sake will be different with just one polish. At this factory, while actually seeing the machine that "polishs" sake rice, we will approach the taste of sake that changes with polishing.
Unrinji is commonly known as "Cat Temple" and is full of cat-related figurines. Don't miss the wood carving cat made with a chainsaw. Even if you don't like cats, you'll definitely be curious!

【Yachiyo Sake Brewery】 A sake brewery where female forests play an active role. Pursuing a new Yachiyo brand while valuing the old-fashioned manufacturing method. It is said to be the heart of sake breweries, and depending on the brewery, you can easily see the "Muro", sample the "prepared water" used for brewing, and prepare sake lees tasting. After the tour, you will also have a tasting and you will be immersed in sake both physically and mentally.
