As the sun goes down, some of America's most cherished monuments and memorials are transformed by lights that make them shine brightly against the night sky. This memorable walking tour takes you to see these iconic DC sites after dark, when their architectures and details take on a new beauty.
Your tour will start at the inspiring Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, gazing up at the massive stone sculpture emerging from the mountain. Then it's on to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, where quotes and statues tell the story of his unprecedented four presidential terms.
Continuing on, we'll visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial. At the World War II Memorial, we'll stop to remember the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation.
As we walk the tree-lined paths, your guide will share interesting facts and history about each memorial. We'll end the tour at the obelisk of the Washington Monument. this is a unique way to experience America's heritage.

The tour guide will discuss the symbolism of the memorial design by architect Ed Jackson Jr. The mountain and stone evoke the struggles Dr. King overcame, while the split in the mountain behind King represents the "stone of hope" hewn from a bigger rock. 3Korean War Veterans Memorial
Your guide will point out details like the mixture of ethnicities depicted, as over 5.7 million Americans served in the war effort. 4Lincoln Memorial
Your guide will give an overview of Abraham Lincoln's life and his role as President during the Civil War as you walk towards the impressive Lincoln Memorial structure. As you approach the memorial, your guide will point out the 36 columns representing the 36 states that existed when Lincoln died. You'll climb the steps where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. After exploring the columns and statue, your guide will lead you down the steps towards the Reflecting Pool where you can photograph the outstanding view of the Washington Monument and National Mall.

Washington Monument (Pass by)
travelers will approach the monument from 15th Street NW and get to view the monument in its entirety from the grounds surrounding it. The guide will provide information and history about the construction of the obelisk, which was built to honor George Washington, the first president of the United States. Travelers will be able to walk around the circular plaza at the base of the monument and see the Commemorative Stones that surround its exterior. Each stone was donated by a city, state or organization to help fund the monument's construction. The guide will point out interesting details on the monument's exterior, like the difference in shade of the marble stones caused by varying densities. Travelers can also see memorial stones installed to honor the workers who died during the monument's construction.
