This national park is most famous for herds of elephants and mighty, ancient baobab trees. It is home to some of the largest elephant herds in all of East Africa, with family groups numbering over 300 members! The park is named for the beautiful Tarangire River that attracts zebras, gazelles, impalas, and wildebeests during the dry season. These animals are soon followed by predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards. Making this a premier location to spot all sorts of wildlife in northern Tanzania. The drive to reach the park takes approximately 1.8 hrs, so we usually like to depart early in the morning (6 or 6:30 am) to ensure you get the most out of this day. You choose your departure time, however. If you would like to leave later, please just let us know. After a full-day game drive (that includes a picnic lunch), you will depart the park for Karatu, where you will enjoy dinner and overnight at a comfortable lodge.
After a hot breakfast at the lodge, you will have a short drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate, and then descend into the world's largest, intact volcanic caldera. Ngorongoro Crater is world-famous for it's unique ecosystem and high density of animals; boasting black rhinos, crater lions, a huge population of hyenas and too many zebras to count. Your morning will be spent on a game drive to view animals in the crater; from Lerai Forest to Lake Magadi, and the open grass lands were so many gazelles and elands graze. Enjoy lunch near the Hippo Pool, where you are likely to spot groups of massive hippos basking in the waters, and plenty of tropical birdlife, too. In the late afternoon, ascend out of the Crater and head back to Arusha. Your experience includes a transfer back to Arusha Airport, Arusha town or Usa River area, depending on your travel plans. Your two days of safari will surely go by fast, so make sure to take it all in, and take all the photos you can!
If you cancel at least 3 full day(s) before the scheduled departure time, you will receive a full refund.
If you cancel within 3 day(s) of the scheduled departure, you will receive a 0% refund.
