This tour includes a walking safari in the morning. Your walking safari will be led by a park ranger, as a precaution. Walk in nature along the Ngurdoto Crater rim, or the base of Mount Meru, to visit waterfalls (like Tululusia) or cross the quiet plains where giraffe often graze. Because of the walking safari portion, children under 5 years are not permitted on this tour. Check out your Day Trip to Arusha National Park for tours that are ideal for families with young children. More about Arusha National Park: This park offers a taste of the best of Northern Tanzania with Little Serengeti, Ngurondoto Crater, and Mount Meru. There is a resident population of giraffes, zebras, and elands throughout the park. Visitors might also spot groups of buffalo in the swamps and warthogs dashing through tall grass. Look up in the trees for the famous black and white colobus monkeys and other primates that live in the forests.
Majestic Mount Meru towers over everything in the park. This dormant volcano is a landmark of the area. Choose if you want your walking tour to trek along the base, and stop at the lovely Tululusia Waterfalls as you head back to the safari car. After your walking safari, continue with an in-vehicle game drive throughout the park.
Greater and Smaller Momella Lakes are a perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch in Arusha National Park. Sit at covered tables and watch the waterfowl below, from white egrets to stunning flamingoes. The algae that grows in the lakes is what gives the flamingoes their unique pink color. Option to canoe on the lake, for an added ranger fee. Please pre-book for this added experience.
Drive to a viewpoint to see a smaller version of Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater. Option for your walking safari to traverse part of the crater rim, or along the crater floor. Ngurdoto Crater is also a volcanic crater that is home to a diverse amount of animals. Buffalo and zebra live in the crater year-round, as do elephants, but the world's largest mammal is surprisingly good at hiding, so consider yourself lucky if you spot an elephant during the drive and/or walk.
